Chatrandom Alternatives in 2026: 13 Random Video Chat Sites Compared
Chatrandom is one of the older random cam chats, and most people who go looking for an alternative have hit one of the same three walls: the gender filter costs money, the iPhone app has disappeared, or the random pool shows more than they signed up for. Below are thirteen sites that do the same job differently, with what each one actually charges and asks of you, plus CamLive, which we make. We've labelled it as ours and tried to be as plain about it as about everyone else.
Short answer: what to use instead of Chatrandom
- You only want to meet women: skip the paid filter and use a service built for it. CamLive matches you 1-on-1 with women who are online right now; CooMeet does the same on per-minute packs.
- You want free filters: Camsurf has free country and language filters; OmeTV lets you pick a country for free.
- You want pure roulette with no account: Chatroulette or Joingy.
- You need an iPhone app: Azar, or Chatroulette's app, listed as CR Video Chat. Most random chats are no longer on the App Store (more on that below).
- You want text as well as video: Joingy, Emerald Chat or Chitchat.gg.
What Chatrandom is, and why people leave
Chatrandom is a random cam chat: press start, get paired with a stranger, skip whenever you like. It adds chat rooms and a multi-cam mode on top of the 1-on-1 roulette, and it runs in the browser and on Android. The reasons people leave are consistent:
- The gender filter is paid. Choosing who you're matched with by gender needs Chatrandom Plus, reported at about $6.99 a week or $19.99 a month in September 2026 reviews. More countries sit behind the same plan.
- Ads on the free tier. Plus removes them; free users see them between matches.
- The iOS app is gone. When we checked in October 2026, Chatrandom was no longer listed in the US App Store. In February 2026 Apple added Chatroulette-style "random or anonymous chat" apps to its list of apps that may be removed without notice, and several big names have since disappeared from iOS.
- What the pool shows you. Reviewers note that users are more likely to run into sexual content on Chatrandom than on stricter platforms, and that its 18+ rule has no real age verification behind it.

Our site first: CamLive
CamLive: 1-on-1 with women, no filter to buy
We'll be upfront that this is ours. CamLive skips the filter problem by design: instead of a mixed random pool you narrow down, it pairs you 1-on-1 with a woman who is online at that moment, in a private room. It runs in the browser with no account needed to start, the first minutes of a call are free, and longer conversations run on coins with the price shown before you spend. Skipping is free, and the camera is optional. The trade-off: it is not a free-for-all roulette, and long calls cost money. How that works is spelled out in how free minutes and coins work.
The 13 alternatives, one by one
1. OmeTV: the biggest pool, free country choice
OmeTV is the largest Omegle-style site and free on the web, with no time limits and a free country choice. You set your own gender but there is no partner gender filter we could verify. The Android app has a paid VIP tier. Like Chatrandom, its iOS app is no longer in the US App Store, and it was pulled from Australian stores in 2025 after a regulator's report.
2. Chatroulette: the original, now with AI moderation
Chatroulette needs no sign-up and combines AI with human moderation. It meters matching with "Quids" credits: new users get 15, each search costs one, and packs start at $1.99. Unusually for this category it still has an iPhone app, listed as CR Video Chat.
3. Camsurf: free country and language filters
If the filters are what you miss, Camsurf gives country and language filters free and needs no login. It runs in the browser and on Android and advertises a large moderation team with a ban system. We could not confirm a gender filter.
4. Emerald Chat: interests, text and group channels
Emerald Chat matches by interests and offers free text and video chat plus free group channels, with AI and human moderation. It requires an account (email or Google), and the gender, country and language filters are part of a paid subscription.
5. Joingy: free, no account, with a text lane
Joingy is about as simple as it gets: browser-only, no account, free, with a text-only mode next to video. It asks you to confirm you are 18+. There are no gender or country filters.
6. Bazoocam: random chat with built-in games
Bazoocam is strongest in France and Europe and matches you partly by location. Its quirk is in-chat games such as tic-tac-toe, which give a conversation something to do besides stare. It runs in the browser and states that it has over 40 moderators and issues 20-day bans.
7. Chitchat.gg: text without an account, video with one
Chitchat.gg lets you text-chat with no account and unlocks video with a free sign-up. It offers gender, region and interest filters, combines automated filters with round-the-clock human review, and keeps its core features free with optional subscriptions.
8. Camgo: Chatrandom's model, different pool
Camgo works much like Chatrandom: random video in the browser, with the gender filter behind a paid Plus plan reported at $6.99 a week. If the paywall is what pushed you away, Camgo won't fix it; if you just want a fresh pool, it's a straight swap.
9. CooMeet: women-only matching, billed by the minute
CooMeet matches men only with verified female profiles, so like CamLive there is no filter to buy. It bills by the minute in packs: 10 minutes for $5, 60 for $25 and 360 for $100 on its site in October 2026, after a free trial. It runs in the browser and on Android and has a built-in translator.
10. Azar: the big app that is still on iOS
Azar, from Match Group's Hyperconnect, has more than 100 million Android installs and is still on the iPhone App Store. It needs an account, and gender and region filters cost gems or a VIP plan. The common complaint is how quickly the gems run out.
11. HOLLA: interest matching with voice and text
HOLLA matches on interests and offers video, voice and text, with AI-assisted reporting. Advanced filters are in the paid HOLLA Plus tier. It is on Android; we did not find it in the US App Store.
12. Monkey: swipe-style social video
Monkey is a social video app with swipe cards and group video, on the web and Android, aimed at a young crowd. It requires an account and is not on the iPhone App Store. It is closer to a social app than to Chatrandom-style roulette.
13. Hay: video matching with live translation
Hay is an Android app whose standout feature is real-time translation during video calls, with AI moderation and gender and region options. Useful if language, not filters, is what keeps your chats short.
What we left out, and why
Chatspin and Shagle are close copies of Chatrandom, with the same paid gender filter and weekly plans, but reviewers file both under hookup and erotic chat, so they are not here. ChatHub used to be a common pick; we could not confirm it is still running in October 2026. If a list recommends a site you cannot open, it was probably written before this year's app-store and shutdown changes.
A quick word on safety
Whichever site you choose, the same rules apply: keep your face and personal details private until you trust someone, do not move to another app because a stranger asks, never send money or gift cards outside the site's own payment flow, and leave any conversation that turns uncomfortable. Our live cam chat safety guide covers the details.
FAQ
What is the best Chatrandom alternative?
It depends on why you are leaving. For a free gender-matched 1-on-1 chat in the browser, CamLive or CooMeet; for free country filters, Camsurf or OmeTV; for a pure no-account roulette, Chatroulette or Joingy; for an iPhone app, Azar or Chatroulette's CR Video Chat app.
Is there a Chatrandom alternative with a free gender filter?
Very few general random chats offer one: on Chatrandom, Camgo, Emerald Chat and Azar the gender filter is paid. Services built around meeting women, such as CamLive and CooMeet, have the matching built in instead of selling it as a filter.
Why can't I find Chatrandom on the App Store?
When we checked in October 2026, Chatrandom's iOS app was no longer listed in the US App Store. In February 2026 Apple added random and anonymous chat apps to the list of apps that may be removed without notice. Chatrandom still runs in the browser and on Android.
How much does Chatrandom Plus cost?
Reviews from September 2026 report about $6.99 per week or $19.99 per month for Chatrandom Plus, which unlocks the gender filter and removes ads. Chatrandom does not publish prices on a page we could check, so confirm in the app before paying.
Do I need an account to use these sites?
Not for all of them. CamLive, Chatroulette, Camsurf and Joingy let you start without signing up. Emerald Chat, Camgo, Azar and Monkey ask for an account.
Are Chatrandom alternatives safe?
Moderation helps but no random chat is risk-free. Keep your face and personal details private until you trust someone, never move to another app because a stranger asks, never send money outside a site's own payment flow, and leave any chat that turns uncomfortable.
